fenceIan Baker

An exceptionally gifted, and experienced carpenter, Ian, born and raised in Victoria, was inspired by the character home he grew up in and has had a passion for working with wood all of his life. He has built a reputation for the outstanding quality of his fine woodworking and the finish of his carpentry.

This skill and love for his work has led him to in-depth training and prestigious projects. Ian worked for 18 months as apprentice to a NorthWest Coast Master carver, and then went on to become site development co-ordinator for the Qu’wutsun Native Heritage Centre in Duncan, helping to restore the centrepiece project of a 40 ft diorama carving, displayed in the B.C. Museum in Victoria. Several of Ian’s other works are still on display at the Qu’wutsun centre.

Over the years he has undertaken further training to ensure his knowledge stays up to date and relevant to today’s homeowner; recent courses include the BC Hydro Power Smart Programme (looking at Home Energy Efficiency).

Ian applies the same attention to detail and high quality craftsmanship to all of his projects – no matter how big or how small.
